History and Values:
Our History
Founded in 1977, Memphis Tutorial Association has tutored thousands of students in the Mid-South. The idea for MTA came to Susan Ison, a native Memphian, early in her teaching career. In January of 1977, she presented the idea to the thirteen-member board of the Memphis Association of Independent Schools, who has heartily supported MTA since that time. As is the case in many successful companies, the founder and many of the original workers continue to work with the company today. Even the children of the first MTA tutors are becoming involved in the work of Memphis Tutorial Association.
Our Values
We believe in:
Praying to God for help and guidance
Being respectful of our students, their parents, their schools, their
teachers, and each other
Being flexible and visionary
Being dedicated and professional
